Is CB2 oil legal in Australia?
3 min read · Terpene Republic
Yes. Cannanda CB2 products are legal to buy, own and use in Australia, with no prescription and no permit.
Why
- Hemp seed oil is a food. Food Standards Australia New Zealand permitted hemp seeds and hemp seed oil as food in November 2017, provided the oil stays under strict THC and CBD limits. Cannanda's hemp seed oil carries a natural trace of both, and the batches tested at import were inside those limits.
- Beta-caryophyllene is a food ingredient. BCP is a naturally occurring terpene found in black pepper and clove and is used as a flavouring. It is not a scheduled substance in Australia.
- It is a hemp seed food, not a cannabis extract. The terpene blends contain no THC or CBD, and the hemp seed oils are sold under the food permission above, so you buy them like any other food.
What this means when you buy
You can order from this site like any other food or wellness product and it ships by ordinary post from our warehouse in Western Australia. There is nothing to declare and nothing to register.
What it does not mean
Being legal as a food does not make it a medicine. Under the Therapeutic Goods Act, a food that is advertised as treating or preventing a condition would be regulated as a therapeutic good — which is why this site describes what the products are and how they are used, and does not make health claims.
Travelling with it
Within Australia, no issue. Taking it overseas is a question for the destination country; hemp-derived products are regulated very differently around the world, so check before you fly.
Cannanda CB2 products are foods and aromatherapy products, not medicines. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or take medication, talk to your healthcare practitioner.
